Volatura

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 13 August 2026 App: Volatura (com.volatura.app) Developer: HornKru Contact: volatura.app@gmail.com

Volatura is a sheet-music reader for Android tablets. This policy explains what information the app handles, when anything leaves your device, and your choices. In short: Volatura does not require an account, does not collect your name or email, shows no ads, and never sells your data.

Information Volatura does NOT collect

  • No account or sign-up is required to use the app.
  • We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, or precise location.
  • No advertising, no ad identifiers, no cross-app tracking.
  • We never sell or rent your data.

Data kept on your device

The following stays on your device and is not sent to us:

  • Your library: the sheet-music (PDF) files you add, and the annotations, bookmarks, stickers, setlists, and notes you create.
  • Your audio recordings.
  • App settings and preferences.
  • A copy of the most recent crash log (used only to fill in a bug report if you choose to send one).

Microphone

Volatura uses the microphone for two features you initiate:

  • The tuner, which analyses pitch on your device in real time — audio is not recorded or transmitted.
  • The recorder, which saves audio to your device.

Recording continues via a foreground service (with a notification) if the screen locks, so long takes are not interrupted. Audio is not sent to us.

When information leaves your device

Google Drive backup and import (your own account)

If you choose to sign in with Google, Volatura can:

  • Back up your library — your scores, annotations, setlists, and PDF files — to a private application folder in your own Google Drive, so your work survives reinstalling the app or moving devices.
  • Import PDFs you select from your own Google Drive.

This data is stored in your Google account, not on the developer’s servers. Volatura only accesses the app’s own backup folder and the specific files you pick; it cannot see the rest of your Drive. You can turn backup off and delete the backup at any time.

Volatura requests exactly two Google Drive permissions, and no others:

  • drive.file — access limited to the individual files you select in Google’s own file picker. A file you pick is copied into the app’s private storage; Volatura cannot see, list, or open anything else in your Drive.
  • drive.appdata — access to a hidden application-data folder in your Drive that only Volatura can read, used solely to store your backup. It grants no visibility into the rest of your Drive.

You can revoke both at any time from your Google account under “Third-party apps & services”.

Limited Use

Volatura’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data obtained through Google Drive is used only to provide the backup and import features described above. It is never used for advertising, never sold, and never transferred to anyone except as needed to provide those features or where required by law.

Crash reports (off by default)

Volatura can send crash reports to help fix bugs, using Google Firebase Crashlytics. This is disabled until you explicitly agree on first launch, and you can turn it on or off any time in Settings. When enabled, a crash sends a stack trace plus basic device information (model, Android version, app version). It does not include your files, annotations, or personal identifiers.

Feedback and bug reports (only when you send one)

If you send feedback or a bug report from within the app, we receive: the message you type, your device make and model, your Android and app version, your screen size, and — for bug reports — the most recent crash log. We do not collect your email or any account identifier with the report. This information is processed by Google Firebase and delivered to the developer, and is used only to respond to and fix the issue.

App integrity / abuse prevention

To protect the feedback service from abuse, the app uses Google Play Integrity (via Firebase App Check) and a randomly generated anonymous identifier. These verify that requests come from a genuine, unmodified app; they do not identify you personally.

When you send a report, the connecting IP address is used to enforce rate limits. It is not stored: it is combined with a secret value and reduced to an irreversible hash, and the resulting counters expire automatically after a short period. This is used only to stop the reporting service being flooded, and it cannot be turned back into an address or used to identify you.

Third-party services

Volatura relies on the following Google services, whose handling of data is governed by Google’s own privacy policy:

  • Google Firebase (Crashlytics, App Check, anonymous authentication, and Cloud Functions)
  • Google Play Services / Play Integrity
  • Google Drive (only when you sign in, for backup and import)

Permissions

  • Microphone — tuner and recorder (see above).
  • Notifications — to show the recording notification.
  • Internet / network state — for Google Drive backup/import and, where applicable, crash and feedback reporting.

Data retention

  • Data on your device remains until you delete it or uninstall the app.
  • Your Google Drive backup remains in your Google account until you delete it (in the app or in your Drive).
  • Feedback and crash reports are retained only as long as needed to address the issue.

Children

Volatura is a general-audience productivity app and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Because Volatura does not collect personal identifiers, we generally cannot associate any data with an individual. You remain in control:

  • Crash reporting can be enabled or disabled at any time in Settings.
  • Cloud backup can be turned off, and any backup deleted, at any time.
  • Data on your device can be removed by deleting items or uninstalling the app.

If you are in the EU/EEA (GDPR) or another region with data-protection rights and have a question or request regarding data processed through the app’s optional features, contact us at volatura.app@gmail.com.

Where GDPR applies, we process the limited data described above on the basis of your consent (crash reporting; sending feedback; signing in for Drive backup) and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and functional (abuse prevention). You can withdraw consent at any time as described above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
